Our History

Pentland Childcare Centre was officially opened in 1994 by original owners Jenny and Leigh Sanford.  The Centre was originally registered for 60 children and has been offering highest quality care for the children in the Bacchus Marsh and surrounding community.

In October 2000 Allison and Wayne Hetherington purchased the business from Jenny and Leigh.  Allison had previously been working at Pentland Childcare for many years and at the time of sale was the assistant co-ordinator.  Wayne had been employed by the Commonwealth Bank for 15 years.  Wayne now holds the position of Company Director and Food Safety Supervisor and co-ordinates the financials and maintenance of the Centre. Allison and Wayne have been residents of Bacchus Marsh for many years and are committed to continue providing quality early childhood education and care for the local community.

In 2003, a new management team was constructed so that the highest standard of care could continue. In January, 2013, Jane Parkinson, a qualified team leader with us was promoted as the new Co-ordinator and shares the role with Allison.

Over the years, Pentland Childcare has undergone numerous renovations to meet the needs of the community and now the centre is licensed for 98 places.

Pentland Childcare and Kindergarten currently undergoes a number of checks from many different regulatory bodies including Department of Education and Training, and the more recently formed Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority team (ACECQA), who ensure that we are operating within the rules and regulations that guide our industry.
